Title: Discovering the land of a thousand hills (A la Découverte du Pays des Milles Collines).

Burundi is a landlocked country bordered by Rwanda, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo; and Lake Tanganyika which lies along its southwestern border.

The beautiful land of a thousand hills offers among others the Royal Drummers of Burundi, an intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO in 2014, and a globally reputed arabica coffee. The small but mighty country unfortunately also has complex development challenges, including in the education sector with low retention rate, despite remarkable improvements in access to basic education.

Romintza is an MBA holder and certified public accountant with over 15 years’ experience in international development at UNHCR/HQ, USAID and two global consulting firms: Ernst & Young and Deloitte. She has worked in multi-sectoral programs, including humanitarian assistance, public health, economic growth, and democracy and governance. She is privileged to have been exposed to diverse contexts: developed countries (e.g., Switzerland, USA); semi-developed (e.g., South Africa, Kenya) but also, fragile contexts such as Somaliland, and South Sudan. Romintza enjoys travelling, reading, music, laughing, and hugging their 4 kids.
