Rotary Institute in Basel

Tuesday, October 11, 2022

All Rotarians and their partners are welcome to participate in the Basel Institute. We will focus on four major topics – they are discussed in four breakout sessions, conclusions being presented in a global session: Environment, Peace, Mother & Child Health and the Future of Rotary. The Institute will be opened with a flag ceremony and the Rotary Hymn.

Saturday, November 5th  will be of particular interest as our Club will be present through several of our initiatives:

  • Sibylle will be animating several break-out sessions relating to peace, war and refugees;
  • Throughout the event there will be a stand of the newly created Rotarian Humanitarian Mine Action Coalition. The Coalition brings together four Swiss mine action NGOs with links to Rotary. The initiators are Reto Stump of the mine-ex foundation and Hansjörg for FSD. Other members include the Urs Endress Foundation (drone) and World without Mines (support for demining projects);
  • Several of our club members together with our friends of RC Tripoli Cosmopolis will be presenting the new global grant project “Lebanese Children’s Dental Health” at the House of Friendship. Please note that this project is the official selection of the District 1990 for the event;
  • During the gala evening of the same day, the newly created Inter-Country Committee (ICC) Switzerland/Liechtenstein - Lebanon will be celebrated. This idea was launched by Linda and implemented by Hansjörg.

We would be more than happy if club members showed up for the day and / or for the Gala on November 5th to show their support. The event is unfortunately not for free, but you might still want to sign up for the day or for the gala, or for both events
