Dr. Sever will share his experience to launch and lead the polio eradication initiative and other social initiatives as a Rotarian.

Dr. Sever is one of the first scientists who advocated for the global polio eradication initiative and Rotary’s engagement to eradicate polio. His initiative led to the launch of Global Polio Eradication Initiative at World Health Assembly in 1998, which resulted in the reduction of more than 99.99% poliomyelitis cases since then.

Dr. Sever is a Vice Chair of Rotary's International Polio Plus Committee (a member of the Rotary Club of Potomac, Maryland, USA) He is also a Professor emeritus of paediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, microbiology, immunology and tropical medicine, George Washington University School of Medicine and Health and Children’s National Medical Center, Washington D.C.
