Statutory Event - Manuela Morelli - The Jewell Inside Us – Talent & Life Skills for Disadvantaged Children in Northern Thailand

Manuela will present the above project that is a proposal for a Rotary Global Grant. The project would support 120 - 150 disadvantaged children per year across three rural and low-income communities in Northern Thailand by financing teachers, educational equipment, vocational tools, and essential learning facilities. The project develops language, arts, music, sports, vocational, and life skills, improving children’s confidence, social inclusion, and future income opportunities - particularly for migrant and vulnerable children.

Children in rural Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai provinces, including migrant Shan children and vulnerable tribal youth, have limited access to structured extracurricular education, creative outlets, vocational exposure, and safe development spaces. Local institutions deliver impactful programmes but lack stable funding for qualified instructors, learning materials, and basic infrastructure. This project addresses these gaps by strengthening existing community-based initiatives and ensuring equitable access without charging child enrollment fees.
