Dr Bernard Pécoul is Executive Director, Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi). Dr Pécoul has led DNDi since its foundation in 2003, developing seven new treatments for neglected patients.
DNDi is a patients' needs-driven, non-profit comprising 250 staff who, together with partners, develop new treatments and ensure better access and policy for neglected patients. DNDi forges public private partnerships -- between biotech, pharma, CMOs, academia, non profits, and government -- to deliver urgently needed treatments for millions of neglected patients.
The presentation will cover the current status of treatments for neglected diseases, DNDi's recent successes including for sleeping sickness and its new initiative to develop evidence for suitable COVID treatments in low-income settings.
