This evening, our friend from EPFL, Matthieu Gani, who was instrumental in implementing the premature baby incubator, will give us a briefing on improved protective suit for healthcare workers involved in the fight against infectious diseases in developing countries, in particular Ebola. This suit is about to enter its last testing phase before it can be safely sent to the field.
Matthieu Gani has been a scientific collaborator at EPFL’s EssentialTech Centre from 2013 to 2019. After completing an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, he worked on cochlear implants at the Geneva University Hospital, developing research interfaces and conducting tests with patients. He was then employed as a social worker and deputy manager at the Soup Kitchen in Lausanne, Switzerland, providing free meals and guidance to people in need. He joined EPFL’s EssentialTech program in 2013 as a project manager, first on newborn health and then in the field of protective equipment. Matthieu recently joined the EssentialMed Foundation, working on the training aspects linked to the introduction of an appropriate oxygen concentrator in developing countries
